Gorman & Company has long admired and been inspired by our pioneering Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gary Gorman. Our respect for him deepened even further on July 17, 2024, when he received the prestigious Charles M. Hill, Sr. Award for Housing Excellence in Madison, WI.
On the first day of the Home for Everyone Conference, Gorman was recognized for his unwavering dedication to advocacy and excellence in creating affordable housing in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Collaborative for Affordable Housing, which organized the conference, noted that Gorman received multiple nominations this year and was selected by committee members for this honorable award.
The award, established in 1999, honors Charles M. Hill, Sr., a former Executive Vice President of Community Investment for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. Hill was instrumental in leading the bank’s 1970s affordable housing program and was a key figure in developing effective housing programs following the ‘War on Poverty.’
Much like Hill, Gorman has effectively utilized local, state, and federal resources to create sustainable affordable housing solutions. This dedication is one of the many reasons why Gorman and our company, with 40 years of experience, are nationally recognized as industry leaders and innovators.
Laura Gallagher, founder and president of The Creative Company, reflected on Gorman’s impact, saying, “So well-deserved. Thank you for your commitment to quality, innovation, and integrity. You built the team that blazes trails, creating one of the top 10 affordable housing development companies in the United States. Well done.”
A biography of Gorman, detailing his pivotal moments and learned lessons, is coming soon. We will share more about his 40-year journey in affordable housing and the book’s expected release date in the coming weeks.
